Based out of Singapore, Yang Yen Thaw is a CoAggregator, M&A specialist, cross-border consultant, investor, entrepreneur and lawyer. He has worked as a corporate lawyer for 25 years in different jurisdictions. Apart from living and working in Singapore, India, Japan and Hong Kong, he was involved in mergers and acquisitions in companies based in US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France. He has also assisted companies extensively in doing business in China.
In a recent project, he helped set up a UK plc that was listed on Nasdaq in Stockholm and served as its Executive Director and General Counsel of the listed company. He functioned as a General Counsel for a private equity firm, startups and other companies. He has commanded positions in various jurisdictions including being a Partner in one of the largest Singapore law firms representing an international law firm and headed its corporate technology practice as well, Head of South Asia Practice in a unique China-Singapore joint law venture, Resident Partner in a PE/VC focused law firm branch in Singapore. Prior to this, he had founded his own law firm which he ran for 12 years in India.Yen Thaw has assisted and represented clients in difficult environments in a wide range of businesses ranging from sector-agnostic PE/VC investments and technology to infrastructure; hospitality – hotel and tourism to healthcare; media and entertainment to consumer oriented products. He is presently working on M&A, RTO and roll-up combinations, listed company directorship, due diligence, international securities transactions, multi-jurisdiction law management, negotiations. He has been panel moderator/speaker in China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and India on behalf of various agencies such as the Indian Embassy in China, the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), UK private wealth organization etc. on investment and doing business.
He utilizes his past successful legal career and varied positions to bring him closer to deals and apply his skills to the business world. His deep understanding and insight of law in many jurisdictions enables him to effectively facilitate business decision making.
On a personal front, is an active grassroots leader, appeared on Bloomberg TV in Singapore, NDTV and NewsX in India on business talks, emcee in events, involved in 52nd NFA documentary The Legend of Fat Mama and writes film reviews.
Due to his hands-on approach to work, he was at the forefront of his clients' legal issues. He had represented his clients in several different capacities including advocate, company director, negotiator, mediator, draftsman and even litigator
